From Tuesday 1 February 2011 households will be able to apply online or over the phone through the Scottish Government’s Home Energy Scotland organisation for a grant of £400 towards the cost of a new boiler. Up to 2,500 households in Scotland will receive £400 towards the cost of a new boiler, under the reopened boiler scrapage scheme. Households who have a central heating boiler which is listed as a category G rated boiler in the SEDBUK listing and which convert less than 70 per cent of fuel into heat, will qualify for cash back on a new energy saving model. However they must use an installer who must be registered with Gas Safe (for gas installations) and a recognised industry body such as CLE or SNIPEF and the boiler must be on the Energy Saving Trust Recommended list.
